Cross from DC into Montgomery County and the solar math changes more than the scenery. Short answer
Solar in Montgomery County, MD runs on Maryland's rules: full retail net metering through Pepco stays open to new customers until July 1, 2027, Maryland SRECs are worth far less than DC's, and the county's Green Bank offers low-interest solar loans. We design, permit and install across the county and handle the utility paperwork.
What changes at the line
Credits worth less, net metering worth more
The biggest difference from DC is the credit market. One exchange listed the 2026 Maryland SREC at about $40, and the compliance cap that sets its ceiling falls from $45 per MWh in 2026 to $22.50 in 2030. DC credits traded in the hundreds of dollars the same year. A Montgomery County system pays back mostly through what it saves on the Pepco bill, not through credits.
That makes net metering the lever that matters. Maryland requires full retail credit for exported solar, and new customers can join on the current terms until July 1, 2027. We size systems to your actual usage so the exported power is credited, not wasted.

Paying for it
Green Bank loans and the sales tax break
The Montgomery County Green Bank offers low-interest solar loans, including 0 percent for the first 10 years in the county's Equity Emphasis Areas. Maryland also charges no state sales tax on qualifying solar equipment, worth at least 6 percent of the system cost.
Income-eligible households can apply to the Maryland Solar Access Program for an upfront rebate, which runs first come, first served. We check which of these apply at your address before the design is final, so the price you see already reflects them.

How a job runs
Permits and Pepco in the county
A Montgomery County install follows the same path as one in DC, with different offices: a county building and electrical permit, an interconnection application to Pepco, an inspection, then permission to operate. We register the system for Maryland SRECs once Pepco approves it.
Most of the waiting is on permits and the utility, not the roof. We tell you where the job stands at each step, and the phone is answered 24 hours a day if anything comes up in between.
